WHITEHALL STATION ARTIST HAS DIED
Frank Giorgini, the artist who created the beautiful murals titled “Passages” at the Whitehall Street 1 station in 2000, died recently. He made them from ceramic tile and bronze, and the work is reflection on the nature that once filled Lower Manhattan. Giorgini was a master of ceramics, specializing in handmade tile and percussion instruments. He studied the making and playing techniques of the udu drum in Zaria, Nigeria, and examples of his drums can be seen in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He also taught architectural tile design at Parsons School of Design at The New School.

HRP MAMAS GIFT DRIVE
HRP Mamas held its annual gift drive for Sheltering Arms, which runs youth homes, programs and drop-in centers that serve thousands of city kids, at Church Street School as it does every year. The group donated and wrapped dozens of toys and gifts.
