Eric Bogosian read from Peter Blauner’s book “Picture in the Sand” at the Mysterious Bookshop Thursday night to a rapt audience — thanks to J. for the shot and the report — that included Mariska Hargitay, Bridget Moynihan, T.J. English, Denis and Brian Hamill, Bryant Gumbel producer Nick Dolin, “Freakonomics” author Stephen Dubner, “Blue Bloods” showrunner Kevin Wade, filmmaker Janet Grillo, and writers Neil McFarquar and Jonathan Kalb. It took Blauner 20 years and six trips to Egypt to write the novel, based on the true story of Cecil B. DeMille filming “The 10 Commandments” in Egypt just as the radical Muslim Brotherhood was forming. The group then celebrated at Serafina. (You can order a signed book in the link above.)
