NED BALDWIN COOKS AT DE GUSTIBUS
Houseman chef Ned Baldwin will be doing a cooking Demo at De Gustibus on Thursday, March 9, from 6-8pm at Macy’s. Some of the dishes are from his book “How to Dress an Egg;” the others he’s developed since then. You can watch online but in person the experience is complete with a tasting menu and wine pairings. SOHO REP EXTENDS SHOW
There will be two additional weeks of performances of “Public Obscenities” through April 9 at Soho Rep on Walker. The play was a New York Times Critic’s Pick; they said it was the work of a “confident playwright” with a “uniformly excellent cast” that “leaves the audience longing for even more” (The New York Times Critic’s Pick). FIRE MUSEUM OPENS NEW SHOW NEXT WEEK
The New York City Fire Museum in Hudson Square will open a new, months-long exhibition on Wednesday, March 15, called “Colonial Firefighting & The American Revolution.” Visitors will step into past New Yorkers’ shoes as they observe the multimedia presentations depicting major colonial era events, such as the 1776 fire that ravaged the city. Original artworks on display show what New York neighborhoods were like back in the day, as well as the first engines used to fight fire.
GROUP SHOW AT 1969 GALLERY
1969 Gallery will open a group show titled “Who Is Your Master?” curated by Wolf Hill co-Founders Ethan Rafii and Jonathan Travis. Showcasing emerging artists from London to Tokyo to St. Louis, the show will feature diverse works ranging from Kate Bickmore’s hyper realistic florascape paintings to Yowshien Kuo’s surreal visions of the American West. Opening night is Thursday, March 16, from 6 to 8p at 39 White.
