RECYCLE PAPER AND ELECTRONICS THIS WEEKEND
The Downtown Alliance is holding its annual Shred-A-Thon on Saturday, March 18, from 10a to 2p on Fulton between Ryders Alley and Cliff Street. A mobile shredding truck will securely destroy and recycle all sensitive documents until the truck is filled. AND they are also collecting working and non-working electronics, including: computers, phones, TVs, VCRs, printers, keyboards, cords and more. See the full list here. They CANNOT accept home appliances such as microwaves, refrigerators, air conditioners etc.
HARBOR SCHOOL WILL HOST 5K
The NY Harbor School on Governor’s Island will host its annual 5K run — its biggest fundraiser of the year — on Sunday, June 4. The New York Harbor Oyster Classic 5K will start at 9a, but be sure to see info here on registration, arrival time, etc. The registration fee is $35 and you can always donate more!
TRIBECAN APPOINTED TO LANDMARKS COMMISSION
Marc Ginsberg, whose architecture firm Curtis + Ginsberg is on Broad Street, was appointed to the city Landmarks Preservation Commission for a term of three years by Mayor Adams. More on that TK.

WOMEN’S DAY MOVIE SCREENING
BPCA will host a screening of “Poly Styrene: I am a Cliche” (2021) today, Thursday, March 16, at 6:30p at 6 River Terrance. The film is directed by Celeste Bell and Paul Sng and follows a journey through the archives of punk icon and X-Ray Spex front-woman Poly Styrene. Free popcorn is served, and a discussion follows the screenings.
