In the News: Puppy stolen after escape from hair salon

PUPNAPPING ON CHURCH STREET
I forgot to run this earlier and just have to mention it: The Post reports that a puppy belonging to a stylist at Roman K salon on Church Street was stolen by a passerby after she ran out of the salon. The shot above is a still from a security video that shows the couple taking the dog. A street vendor had scooped up Rami, but then handed her over to a passing woman who claimed she would keep the 6-pound poodle in her car to keep her warm. The woman then sped away.

CANAL STREET MARKET REVIEW
Eater has a review of the Canal Street Market, and I need to get over there soon. (P. spotted this and said he loves the rice rolls.) It opened in 2017 and Eater says: “Now the Canal Street Market seems to be taking off, as all but one of its 10 stalls are filled and customers throng the space for lunch and into the mid-afternoon. The décor is different, too, with paper lanterns and tiny lights hanging from the ceiling, now seeming more like Chinatown than Soho. On several recent visits, I found the food truly exciting.”

STUBHUB TAKES SPACE AT 3 WTC
Yimby reports that StubHub will establish its new headquarters at 3 World Trade Center and will close multiple locations in Midtown and move to 44,000 square feet on the 59th floor.

THIERRY DESPONT IN ARREARS ON FRANKLIN
Crain’s reports that Tribeca Theirry Despont, whose massive townhouse is on the market, owes rent at a storefront he leased but never opened at 175 Franklin. Odd! He owes $92,000 in missed rent and fees for the store, according to a lawsuit filed by his landlord Monday in Manhattan’s Supreme Court. It looks to me like he used the space as a private gallery and took the lease in 2018…
