BUCKLE MY SHOE EXPANDS IN THE WEST VILLAGE
Buckle My Shoe preschool, which has been in Tribeca since 1986 (!), is expanding its West Village location to include infants, toddlers, 2s, 3s and pre-K. (The new space is also owned by their Tribeca landlord, Jeffrey Gural of GFP Real Estate, the family business of Roger Gural who created Arcade Bakery, now Frenchette Bakery, in their building.) The school will close its current West 13th space and open at 80 8th Avenue at 14th Street — 7000 square feet with 30-foot windows — in September 2023.
NYC TREE MAP TRACKING CHERRIES
The city just released an interactive map that tracks the trees in the city, so I went looking for some local Japanese flowering cherries — and there aren’t a ton. Turns out Reade Street has some in planters and there are a few at Columbus Park, but the real bounty is at Confucius Plaza, at Bowery and Division.

REITDESIGN SCORES DAVEY AWARDS
Tribecan Liz Reitman’s design company Reitdesign, which I have to add has done TONS of pro bono posters for Washington Market Park for a decade, recently won three Davey Awards that honor small businesses for website design and branding. The awards are judged by the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts.
