Plastic surgeon Jennifer Walden, the former program director at The Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, opened a facility on Washington and Laight last August, in the River Lofts building. The practice — Skintology MedSpa — offers a variety of noninvasive beauty services such as facials, microblading, injectables, sexual wellness and noninvasive body contouring.

Walden splits her time between here and Austin — she is raising twin sons as a single mother and moved to Austin to be near family.

“I realized how hard it would be to raise them as a single parent. I also just needed help! As a surgeon, I needed to be able to sleep a good seven hours!” She does most of her plastic surgery procedures in Austin, where she has two medical spas and a surgical facility; the Tribeca medical director is Dr. Mary-Laura Klesaris, Mount Sinai-trained in internal medicine, sub-specializing in restorative medicine and bioidentical hormone therapy. The practice has two aestheticians who do procedures all day long and two nurse injectors. Walden also specializes in hormone therapy, sleep disorders, immune health and sexual wellness procedures for both women (the O shot) and men (the J shot).

Walden trained at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat — which has one of the first cosmetic surgery fellowships in the nation — and practiced here for eight years. She is also the current president of The Aesthetic Society (The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery), and the first female president in the organization’s 55-year history.

“That was a big milestone for our profession and my career,” she said. “For that reason I wasn’t able to witness this move to Tribeca as much as I would have liked to be — but this has been a year of travel for me, doing presentations and speeches around the world.”

The business was originally in Midtown but after covid, when office workers went remote, the rent there no longer made sense. Instead she divided the Washington Street space with WMP Pediatrics.

“We are really happy to be in Tribeca,” she said, “and I plan to be here for several weeks at a time in the future.”
