In the News: Hugh Jackman in the neighborhood

HUGH JACKMAN IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD
People magazine caught Hugh Jackman, who has separated from his wife of 27 years, in Tribeca. (And my pal saw him with Ryan Reynolds at Fouquet’s, and we know that he went to the Jets game with Taylor Swift, so he’s making the Tribeca rounds!) Last I read, Jackman had sold his West Village triplex in 2022 for a penthouse at 100 11th Avenue, the steel and glass condominium designed by Jean Nouvel in far West Chelsea, paying $21.1 million. They put their old apartment, at 176 Perry Street, which they had owned since 2008, on the market for $38.9 million. He does, of course, have a business here: Laughing Man coffee.

A TOP SALE FOR 443 GREENWICH
The Times reports that the month’s biggest closed sale went to a duplex penthouse at 443 Greenwich Street, a celebrity-favorite in TriBeCa, where an anonymous buyer paid $36 million. “The apartment was reduced from its initial $40 million asking price, though the anonymous seller still made a $2 million profit after owning it for only two years.”

Heji Shin: The Big Nudes

GALLERY SHOWS FOR THIS WEEKEND
The Times lists the France-Lise McGurn and Rita McGurn show “Matching Mother/Daughter Tattoos” at Margot Samel at 295 Church among the shows to catch this weekend. The painters are mother-daughter. And they note ‘Heji Shin: The Big Nudes’ — which are actually photographic portraits of pigs — at 52 Walker. And Ben Sakoguchi’s paintings at Ortuzar Projects on White and West Broadway. And Roberto Lugo at R & Company, 64 White.

SAVANNAH GUTHRIE APARTMENT REDUCED
People reports that the Today show host Savannah Guthrie is re-listing her Tribeca loft at 12 Warren for half a million dollars less. “The Today show co-anchor and her husband, Michael Feldman, first listed their four-bedroom, four-bathroom, nearly 3,800-square-foot New York City home for $7.1 million in January. Property records show that the couple purchased the home in June 2017 for slightly more than they originally listed it for: $7,114,294. They’ve since reduced the price to $6.5 million.”

  1. Ah, that building. Didn’t it once win the Ugliest Building of the Year award?
