CRATE & BARREL HAS CLOSED IN SOHO
L. sent the heads up a few weeks ago and I promptly forgot: Crate & Barrel’s Soho flagship store on Broadway and Houston is now closed. The new flagship is in the Flatiron at 881 Broadway. The Soho store opened 22 years ago, taking over 40,000 square feet in the 1893 Cable Building designed by Stanford White. From The Times when it opened: “Built in conjunction with a short-lived experiment in cable car transportation, the Cable Building originally housed a series of steam engines and winding wheels that moved cables just under the surface of Broadway from Bowling Green to 36th Street. But cable proved impractical and the line switched to electricity in May 1901.”

The school is at 28-42 Trinity Place. Register here.
DAVID HAMMONS AND HIS IMPACT ON THE WORLD
With the Gansevoort Peninsula in Hudson River Park just opened — and with David Hammons’ Day’s End featured right there at its southern shore — this is a great time for the Battery Park City Authority to feature an illustrated talk with art historian and lecturer Sylvia Laudien-Meo about Hammons’ work and its impact on the world. Friday, November 17, noon to 1:30p, 200 Rector Place Community Room.
ROLLER SKATING AT THE OCULUS

$30 for Adults, $25 for Minors. Bring your own skates for a discount of $0.00…. seems a bit silly
It seems they’ve just opened a brand new crate and barrel store on Broadway nr 19th St in the Flatiron/ Union Sq area. Probably a better location for them – more foot traffic.
Looks like the Oculus’ skating rink is also looking for more foot traffic.
