I am catching up with The Post on this, but still wanted to report that last Thursday in the early hours, at 1:50a, police responded to a 911 call of a male stabbed at 96 Lafayette, in front of the axe-throwing venue Live Axe, within the confines of the 5th Precinct. Upon arrival, officers observed a 17-year-old male and a 19-year-old male with stab wounds to the torso, the NYPD press office said.
The 17-year-old victim, Rocco Rodden of Warren, NJ, was transported by EMS to Bellevue where he was pronounced dead. The 19-year-old victim was transported by EMS to Bellevue as well, in stable condition. The Post reported that the teens were brothers.
Police arrested another teenager, Gianluca Bordone, 19, of Oyster Bay, Long Island, later that night in the area. He was charged with manslaughter and assault at 11:40p on Thursday.
The Post covered the arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court on Sunday, where prosecutors said the fight erupted on the street after the group had a private party inside Live Axe and brought the remaining alcohol onto the street, where they “continued to drink and socialize” Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Eun Bi Kim said at the arraignment.
“Bordone tried to flee by approaching a car and ‘then by approaching a party bus and attempting to talk his way inside,’ the prosecutor said. He ultimately climbed into a cab and met up with four friends who were also involved in the fight at Bowery and Canal, just a third of a mile away from where he allegedly unleashed the violence. Cops zeroed in on him there after getting a description from witnesses, finding him wearing a vest coated in blood, prosecutors said. The stabbing was caught on a surveillance camera.”
