Adding to the Tribeca Design District (I feel like I have written that a lot lately, so soon I will take stock…) is Rembaum Hanau, a vintage furniture gallery/shop that opened on Nov. 30 on Duane and Church. (This was the former home of Antiqueria Tribeca, which closed in 2017.)
More soon when I can meet them in person, but in the meantime: the gallery is run by British native and interior designer Sharon Rembaum and French native and textile designer Cécile Hanau, whose intention is to recreate the European flea market in the shop. They offer both vintage furniture as well as a design studio providing curation services.
The pieces are one-a-kind antiques and vintage treasures spanning centuries, including an antique Chinese Mahjong table with corner pull outs, a modern bench crafted by a local artist who designs objects using horsehair, and lighting from designers such as Jacques Adnet and Gio Ponti.
