Seen & Heard: It’s Groundhog Day at Duane Park

GROUNDHOG DAY AT DUANE PARK
The Friends of Duane Park will hold their annual celebration of Groundhog Day on Friday, Feb. 2, 4 to 5p. There will be the annual ice sculpting of the hog himself, cookies and hot chocolate.

THIS WEEKEND ON GOVERNORS ISLAND
More ice carving: Governors Island will host its second annual ice carving contest on Saturday from noon to 5p, and there are two walking tours scheduled at 10:45am and 2:45pm. All tours are free and led by the Friends of Governors Island volunteer tour guides, and depart from Soissons Landing. G. caught a note at Jenni Kayne saying the store on Harrison is undergoing some renovations. The website says they will reopen on Feb. 26.

HOLOCAUST PORTRAITS PROJECTED ON BROOKLYN BRIDGE
A project called Live2Tell honored Holocaust Remembrance Day, Jan. 27, by projecting images of survivors by the artist Gillian Laub on landmarks across the city, including the Brooklyn Bridge. Laub has made more than 200 portraits so far, with plans for more. See the installations here on Instagram.
