HUDSON RIVER PARK SUMMER EVENT SCHEDULE
Hudson River Park has just released its summer event schedule and there are dozens of events throughout the park, which stretches up to 59th Street. There are a couple of events here in Tribeca, including Healthy on the Hudson at Pier 25 and Big City Fishing at Pier 26. Check out the full schedule here. Some of my favorites to watch for: Submerge science fair for kids at Pier 84 at 44th Street; Sunset on the Hudson concerts on Pier 45 in the Village; Sunset Salsa dance parties at Pier 76 at 36th Street; and the Blues BBQ Festival on August 10 — but really, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
GOTHAM PARK BLOCK PARTY
Gotham Park, the public space under the Brooklyn Bridge, aka the Brooklyn Banks, will host a Community Block Party on Saturday, May 4, from noon to 5p with live music, dancing, food, skateboarding lessons, a basketball game and other play for kids. The event is free but you can register here. The actual address is Rose Street and Avenue of the Finest.
FREE ORANGETHEORY CLASS THIS WEEKEND
Orangetheory Fitness Tribeca, at 25 Hudson Street, will be offering free classes on the morning of May 4 starting at 8:30a, with a DJ playing the music for the classes. There will also be free services, food and drinks from vendors. To sign up for a class, email Chris Brand at chris.brand@empireportfolio.com or call 646-440-4288.
ONE MEDICAL CLOSED FOR A COUPLE WEEKS
A sign at One Medical said the office on Hudson and Reade is closed through May 5.
LOCAL DANCERS PERFORM AT THE JOYCE
Earlier this spring, 23 local dancers from Downtown Dance Factory danced at the Joyce Theater as part of NYCDA’s Annual Destiny Rising event that raises money to help college students go on to dance at college. DDF was selected from a national pool as one of two dance studios, along with companies including Complexions, Parsons, and American Ballet Theater, the BFA programs at Pace University and the University of Arizona.
