Seen & Heard: Oysters, whales and history at Governors

ART INSTALLATION AT GOVERNORS
Governors Island Arts and the NRDC have installed artist Jenny Kendler’s “Other of Pearl” in the historic Fort Jay on Governors Island, featuring sculptural and sonic works that consider the oyster and whale as central players in the ecological entanglement between human and nonhuman beings and waterways and flows of capital, aiming to help us trace the extractive histories that underline the climate crisis. The show is open Wednesday to Sunday through the end of October. The pieces are set in the fort — it looks very cool. More info here.

NYPD READY FOR A BIG RIOT
The NYPD sent out a huge force last week in (I assume) anticipation of the climate protestors that come around regularly to Citi headquarters. This was quite a crew…

THE GREENING OF LIBERTY PARK
The green wall at Liberty Park is installed and looking fresh. Thanks to J. for the shots. Not sure what I think of the pattern, but my guess is that will soften over time.
