Seen & Heard: Vendor returns to subway mezzanine

SUBWAY VENDOR RETURNS TO CHAMBERS MEZZANINE
E. caught this shot and I will return to chat with him this week. L. told me he had a little AC running in there “to help him stay alive in this heat!”

SARABETH’S COMING TO HOUSTON
Sarabeth’s is getting its new space on Houston between Thompson and West Broadway ready — I guess as a Downtown replacement for ours. T. sent this photo — the address is 100 West Houston, the former Jane Restaurant, which closed a week ago. The Jane website thanks the Village for the support for more than 20 years — they opened in 2002. They also list Sarabeth’s as a sister restaurant, so they must have had overlapping owners… “Although we are closing this chapter, we are excited for what’s to come in this landmark location,” they wrote on Instagram.

WINTER GARDEN PALMS GETTING REPLACED
Over the next two weeks starting this past Saturday, Brookfield is replacing the palm trees in the Winter Garden. (Thanks to J. for the photo below.) The trees can safely live indoors for up to 10 years, until they reach their maximum height under the Winter Garden’s glass ceiling; these were planted in 2013. Brookfield’s landscaper, John Mini Distinctive Landscapes, will plant 16 new Washingtonia Robusta palm trees, grown in Florida, and the existing ones will get mulched.
