August 21, 2024 Restaurant/Bar News
The V Cafe space on Greenwich south of Harrison has been leased to an LLC called Blissfully Hospitality, doing business as a yet-to-be-named entity. A. caught the flyer on the window; they come before Community Board 1’s Licensing Committee on Sept. 11, when we will get the details.
V Cafe, fka Viet Cafe, the Vietnamese restaurant that opened at 345 Greenwich more than 20 years ago, closed permanently in July and there have been signs up for the sale of the commercial condo since 2021. V Cafe owner Lan Tran Cao also owns the condo, and she is the landlord listed on the new agreement. (Oddly I found that on Reddit!)
The space is 2000 square feet, and in case you track this sort of thing, the asking rent was $180/ft – which I guess they got since the transaction amount was $360,000.
This is one of three prominent retail spaces now open after the losses of Khe-Yo and Sarabeth’s. And of course there’s the former Caliza, which Tribecan Josh Lebowitz did a lovely job renovating before closing the restaurant in January.

Looking up the LLC record for Blissfully Hospitality shows an address that is associated with chef David Bank (https://www.jamesbeard.org/chef/david-bank) of Pure Thai Cookhouse and Land Thai Kitchen.
Pure Thai is incredible – used to be my main place I went to. This would be so cool
