Seen & Heard: It’s Fashion Week…

IT’S FASHION WEEK…
…so that means it’s lights up at Staple Street. G. caught the shoot and the post on IG yesterday.

“FAST FINE DINING” FOR HUDSON SQUARE
Wonder, a “mealtime super app” that serves “Fast Fine” dining, has opened at 60 Charlton in Hudson Square. Featuring some of the world’s best chefs including Bobby Flay, Jose Andres, Nancy Silverton and Tribeca’s Marc Murphy, and restaurants from across the country including Tejas Barbeque and Di Fara Pizza, the location offers fine dining takeout. This is the company’s 5th location in Manhattan, in addition to the Upper West Side, Chelsea, East Village and Upper East Side. I don’t fully get it, so more tk when I can get up there.

BEST DEAL IN TOWN DEPARTMENT
In the Best Deal in Town department, the new Hashi Japanese market on Greenwich has very good prices on sushi — but you can’t beat this as a snack: the spicy salmon onigiri for $3, about the size of your palm. If you can figure out how to open it though, let me know. We were 0 for 3.

  1. Hashi is a great addition to the neighborhood!

  2. Onigiri are some of my favorite snacks! Had them in Tokyo the first time. Hashi’s are just ok — the best are from Yaya Tea.

  3. I think it would be more accurate for this “Featuring some of the world’s best chefs” to say “Featuring concepts from some…”

Wonder is a ghost/virtual kitchen and they partner with chefs to use their name to promote concepts. Wonder staff make the food not staff overseen by Flay, Andres, etc. Big difference.

  4. The onigiri wrapping: the white sticker/label needs to be peeled off separately before the more thoughtful plastic wrapping does its job. In Japan, the paper label would peel very easily together with the rest of the wrapping, but alas, this is Tribeca, not Tokyo.
