AN UPDATE ON 60 WALL
The Post has an update on the vacant tower at 60 Wall (photos above and below), where neighbors tried in vain to preserve the opulent marble ode-to-the-1980s lobby. A pal and I happened to walk by and saw that most of the lobby is under construction, with hallways left to access the subway station that opens into the space. From The Post: “The 47-story tower developed for JP Morgan in the 1980s more recently belonged to Deutsche Bank, which sold it to Paramount Group in a sale-leaseback transaction in 2007…It’s a bold plunge for Manhattan-based Paramount. FiDi office vacancies are 27% and 34% respectively in its east and west portions, according to Cushman & Wakefield (the data don’t include the World Trade Center area.)”

AESOP TAKES LOBBY OF 67 WALL
The cosmetics brand Aesop has transformed the lobby of 67 Wall into a retail shop, Hospitality Design reports. “Inspiration for the interior concept came from the verticality of Manhattan, as well as the Wall Street building’s past life as the Munson Steamship Line office in the 1920s. The Art Deco space is defined by soaring ceilings and walls clad in Fior di Pesco marble. Pilasters add rhythm to the walls, while ornate crown moldings and a coffered ceiling give the room a strong, opulent character.”

111 WASHINGTON FOUNDATIONS UNDERWAY
Yimby reports that the foundations are progressing at 111 Washington — aka 8 Carlisle, just south of the World Trade Center and the site of a future 64-story residential skyscraper. “Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Carlisle New York Apartments and Grubb Properties, which closed on a $48 million loan for the project last summer, the 712-foot-tall structure will span 326,221 square feet and yield 462 residential units, 7,000 square feet of commercial space, and a 60-foot-long rear yard.”

BANKS OUT; COOL KIDS IN?
The Wall Street Journal — I don’t subscribe so I could not read the whole thing, but assume some of you can — has a story about the conversion of 161 Water, the former AIG headquarters, which is trying to rebrand the idea of work in the office with “luxury amenities like free matcha, afternoon oysters and a full-service concierge.”
