TWO OUTDOOR MOVIES AT FOSUN PLAZA
Fosun will show two movies outdoor on their plaza at 28 Liberty: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone on Sept. 26 and the 1984 Ghostbusters on Oct. 17, both on the giant 40-foot LED screen on the western side of the plaza near the corner of Nassau and Liberty streets. Weather permitting, both films will air at 7p, and audience members can arrive beginning at 6p. Audience members are encouraged to dress in costumes, and there will be an informal Halloween costume contest prior to Ghostbusters.
ARCHITECT INDUCTED INTO NATIONAL ACADEMY
Longtime Tribecan and landscape architect Ken Smith has been elected into the National Academy of Design, Class of 2024. The annual nomination and election of National Academicians dates back to the academy’s founding in 1825 as the United States’ first artist- and architect-led organization. New Academicians are nominated and elected by the current members of the National Academy, a growing community of 450 artists and architects across the country.
BPC BLOCK PARTY ON SATURDAY
Battery Park City will host a block party on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 11a to 4p, on Esplanade Plaza. There will be children’s games and family activities, live musical performances, local business and restaurant vendors, contests, prizes, and much more. Pumphouse Park will have Kindierock at 11:30 and art and activities for kids till 3:45.
