Seen & Heard: New concept for Loopy Doopy?

NEW CONCEPT FOR LOOPY DOOPY?
J. said he stopped for a beverage at Loopy Doopy a couple weeks ago and they were preparing to shut down for the season — they closed the day after Labor Day. (Usually they go into October.) From J. “Word is the Conrad might be redoing and expanding Loopy Doopy’s rooftop footprint with a pretty significant investment (~$13 million). Details were a little sketchy but it sounds like it’s going to be an Italian restaurant with outdoor space.”

MOVIES AT PIER 17
The Rooftop at Pier 17 will host “School of Rock” on Monday, Sept. 30, and “Barbie” on Oct. 14. Doors open at 5p, there’s a music performance at 5:30 and the movie starts at 7:30. The events are free, but there’s an option for a VIP upgrade.

PRO PICKPOCKET AT YVES
J. sent a note: In my 15+ years in NYC, I’ve never experienced this — but I was sitting at Yves tonight with two friends, with my purse hanging on my chair, and my credit card and driver’s license were swiped. My Amex was used at Apple — a $1600 charge that was (fortunately) declined. A man in a wheelchair stating he was a veteran circled around our table a few times. My guess is he was involved. If other people report something similar, definitely worth warning folks…”

THE LAST OF THE DUANE STREET SHEDS
F. caught the dismantling of the final shed on Duane Street between Hudson and West Broadway. Businesses have till November to remove them if they have not applied for a permanent setup.

  1. When will the ugliest shed(s) in the neighborhood finally be taken down? Zona, the plywood eyesore continues to occupy far too much frontage with its trashy containers.

    • I have asked DOT: There is no way to find out if a restaurant has applied to be part of the permanent program. But either way, all sheds come down in November.

      • So far, CB1 has only reviewed and approved one shed in our community (Sushi of Gari Tribeca). There might be a rush of applicants as November approaches.

  2. I saw Walker’s putting up a new shed on the street yesterday….
Tamarind shed was removed weeks ago and yes, those disgusting filthy Zona sheds, how do they have 3!, are still up.
