New Kid on the Block: Quarters

The lighting design firm In Common With has opened a showroom called Quarters that has a very cool speakeasy-type gathering spot/wine bar embedded in it — open to the public. UPDATE: They open for service on Oct. 17.

It’s worth stopping by to see the space — formerly a yoga studio? — on the second floor of 383 Broadway. It is of course beautifully decorated, as you would expect from a showroom dedicated to made-to-order craftsmanship. Their Flora chandelier is in vestibule of the building, before you ascend the narrow staircase — and from upstairs you get a great city view through the transom window. The Paloma pendant is hanging in the “bedroom.”

The cozy bar area —  a study in ochre — is in the back, and has a capacity of 74. They were approved for their liquor license in June for the hours of noon to midnight on weekdays and noon to 2a on weekends.

In Common With was founded in Brooklyn in 2018 by Felicia Hung and Nick Ozemba, longtime friends who aim to create well-designed items that combine meticulous, made-to-order craftsmanship with scalable manufacturing. Read more in The Times Style feature from 2022.
