Coffee shop coming to the Greenwich and Beach?

The folks at New Trio Cleaners first told me they thought a coffeeshop was coming to the former ‘Wichcraft space at 397 Greenwich and Beach; then B. happened to chat up the workers there this week and got the same story.

A quick check of the Department of Buildings construction permits shows that indeed a LK4 Kaffe LLC holds the permits there — and the company lists its address as a building on River Terrace and Warren. (Just for kicks I checked to see if Kaffe Landskap has the same address, but they seem to operate out of Denver.) Thanks to James Bogardus, who is much better at digging than I, who figured out it is the same owners as Kaffe Landskap — sort of. I will try to digest all that and circle back.

‘Wichcraft, Tom Colicchio’s fast casual, closed both locations — Greenwich and Broadway — in December of 2020, when the pandemic was not easing up. That space, as lovely as it is, has been closed ever since. Colicchio and chef Sisha Ortuzar opened the first ’Wichcraft in 2003 on 19th Street; the Broadway outlet opened in July 2016; I am not sure of the Greenwich location but it went back at least to 2008, I am pretty sure.

More TK when things start to reveal themselves.

  1. The LPC-approved plans state: “CLIENT: KAFFE LANDSKAP 397 GREENWICH ST NEW YORK, NY 10013”

  2. Excellent – the 11th coffee shop on Greenwich! Exactly what we needed!

  3. Agree with Tribeca Dad…..another overpriced coffee shop.

PSA to all TriBeCans out there….make your own coffee at home! While I’m all for supporting your local businesses, this just seems redundant and like a waste of money. As Steve Jobs said, “I started my wealth by making my coffee at home.” Peace and love to all.
