Battery Park City resident and dentist Dr. Atoussa Halary opened Harrison Street Dental on Sept. 4, taking the former pediatrics space at 5 Harrison, just east of Staple Street.

The practice is a startup — she did not buy it from another dentist, but is forging out on her own.

Atoussa did her residency at Harlem Hospital and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland in 2017 (she grew up in Maryland). She then worked for Tribeca Dental Associates on Murray for a year and a half and after that, iSmile Dental in Williamsburg for four years. Her new practice does preventative care, cosmetic work, Invisalign, and some smaller surgeries like the removal of wisdom teeth and implants.

“I had a really great experience at both practices, but in Brooklyn, the owners were very hands off and never there so I learned how to run a practice,” Atoussa said. “While I was there we expanded and opened two more locations.

“But it was time to bet on myself and take what I learned to my own practice.”
