I love this! Adding to the microstores that are so great to have in the neighborhood (Lola Tribeca on Harrison and Hector’s watch and jewelry repair on Chambers) is Tribeca Locksmith and Keys, an offshoot of Sullivan Locksmith in the Village. They will be taking up residence just next to Casa Brazilian at 157 Duane, in the tiny space just east of the front door. (Thanks to JBW.)
(That’s the space set up for Khe-Yo in 2013, above, and 2021.)
And it has a good Tribeca meetup story to go with it. One of the landlords of the commercial space, which until recently housed Khe-Yo, found Sullivan Locksmith on Yelp, a 35-year-old business owned by Arthur Maksumov and his father. When Arthur came down to Tribeca to fix the front door lock, he spied the little space just to the right of the door that Khe-Yo used as a two-person private dining room.
“I looked at her and said this could be perfect for a key copy service, because what do you really need? A machine and some keys,” Arthur said. “She couldn’t believe it at first and I said let’s give it a shot.”
He’s slowly building it out — “I am in the field all day so I come down when I have spare time” — and hopes to have it ready in another two weeks or so, after he cleans it and stains the wood. He already has the license and he’s waiting on a new phone line.

About time!!
I saw them working in the space the other day and was wondering how Casa could use it with what I saw built out, but this makes more sense and is a great addition to the neighborhood.
