Seen & Heard: Help release the fishes

RETURNING THE FISHES TO THE RIVER
The River Project folks at Hudson River Park will return the fishes in the tanks at Pier 40 back to their (even more) watery habitat on Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 3 to 6p, at the Wetlab on the south side of Pier 40. It’s a happening. There will be kid-friendly crafts and activities that teach about local wildlife and kids will help the team return the fish residents to the Hudson River. More info here.

TASTE OF TIN DINNER
The Tin Building, created by the chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, at the Seaport is doing a tasting dinner for its restaurants on Thursday, October 24, from 7 to 9p in its Tasting Studio. The tickets are $198 including tip for a five-course dinner including dessert with wine pairings. Note that this dinner will be communal style dining, with guests seated together at a table. More info here.

CAMPFIRE SONGS IN TEARDROP PARK
Battery Park City will host a campfire (I am guessing minus the fire) gathering on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2 to 3:30p, at Teardrop Park with stories and songs from award-winning children’s performer Suzi Shelton. There will also be a City of Forest Day nature project, Halloween crafts, games and more.

FERNANDO BENGOECHEA AT CRISTINA GRAJALES GALLERY
Cristina Grajales Gallery will show “Woven Together: Reflections,” a collaborative exhibition honoring the late photographer Fernando Bengoechea and the innovative woven photography technique he pioneered. The exhibition features Fernando’s original images, handwoven by his brother Marcelo Bengoechea, who is dedicated to preserving Fernando’s artistic legacy. Fernando died in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami; his former partner, the noted interior designer Nate Berkus, has co-curated the exhibition, which also includes work from other artists.
