FRIENDS & FASHION IS THIS WEEK
Friends & Fashion, the used clothing sale that is an annual PS 234 fundraiser, is on this week starting today through Nov. 22 at 368 Greenwich, between Harrison and N. Moore. Hours are 9a to 6p.
LAUGHING MAN AS EXAMPLE FOR OUTDOOR DINING
Laughing Man will continue its curbside seating area as part of the new city Outdoor Dining program, which means it will be a permanent part of the streetscape going forward, but the setup will have to come down at the end of November as with all curbside dining areas. This is really too bad, since their arrangement — which has been on Duane for a decade — was originally part of a citywide program that claimed parking for public use. The seating at Laughing Man, unlike seating areas for other restaurants, is open to the public. And, it conforms to the current regulations: no covering, just umbrellas in summer.
ANNUAL TOYS FOR TOTS COLLECTION
ARC Athletics will host its annual toy collection to benefit Toys for Tots on Saturday, Nov. 30, from 2 to 4p at Bar 135, a 135 Reade and Hudson. The Marines will be there to personally accept the toys. If you are out of town that weekend (it’s the Saturday after Thanksgiving) you can drop toys of at ARC Athletics at 5 Harrison — entrance on Staple Street — until noon on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
MAMAN & BENVENUTO ARE KEEPING OUTDOOR SEATING
Both Maman and Benvenuto were approved by Community Board 1’s Licensing Committee to keep their outdoor seating — Maman’s is curbside, but on the far side of the bikelane, and Benvenuto is on the sidewalk.
