Falafel Tanami has closed

A. wrote, worried: Falafel Tanami had been closed for three days running. And in fact, the shop, which just opened in August, has closed permanently. I checked in, and it seems the venting at the site just did not work — and neighbors were complaining. “We are so sorry for the disappointment!” their rep wrote. “But not to worry, we will be back open soon at a new spot in Manhattan!”

I will update this post when they announce the location — and it may indeed by close by.

The three-seat restaurant out of Midwood was recognized as among the 100 Best Restaurants in NYC in 2023 and 2024 by Pete Wells at The New York Times. When the CEO of Juice Press, Michael Karsch, read about Tanami in The Times, he convinced them to open in half of his shop here.

  1. When we would go to pick up falafel my wife would wait outside because the smell was so strong. Only falafel place I like.
