Seen & Heard: Arnold makes a movie on Staple Street

ARNOLD AS SANTA ON STAPLE
Both J. and Gene Schafer at ARC Athletics sent shots of a Christmas transformation for an Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle — literally, Santa’s sleigh. In “The Man With the Bag,” Santa uses his naughty list to get a former thief to help him get his stolen magic bag back. Gene asked his security team if he would autograph his book, “Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life.” “He didn’t want to take any photos with his Santa costume on,” Gene said. “So they took me to his SUV, he rolled his window down, we shook hands and we talked about his book and hard work!”

AUSSIE PUB OPENS TODAY AT THE SEAPORT
The Aussie pub Old Mates opens today at 170 John in the Seaport. It’s owned by Andy Lee, a former radio-host and TV personality, and the founder of Bluestone Lane, Nick Stone, and restaurateur Eddy Buckingham — all Australians. Stay tuned.

IZZY PEREIRA TEACHING AT DDF
Fidi resident and professional dancer Izzy Pereira has taken a spot teaching at Downtown Dance Factory. A summa cum laude graduate of Pace’s BFA dance program, she has danced in a short film with NYC’s Wolf and Swan company, a national commercial for Snapchat, and the Broadway Votes PSA. She was also the rehearsal director for pop artist Tash Blake’s tour in Europe, rehearsing here in Downtown, and performed in NYCDA’s Destiny Rising, Choreographer’s Carnival NYC and Sybarite NYC.

GOLDEN DINER IN MIDTOWN
Sam Yoo has taken over his parents’ restaurant, New York Kimchi, across from Rock Center and will open an “old-school Korean pub from the lens of a Korean American chef” tomorrow. “Think: classic NY bar mixed with the lively energy of a Korean pub,” the website says. There will be two levels, according to Eater: “Golden HOF (@goldenhofny) touts the casual fare of a drinking den; the lower-level Korean restaurant, NY Kimchi (@nykimchi48), pays homage to its former name in steakhouse form with raw bar items.”
