GITANO AT PIER 17 OPENS MARCH 6
Gitano, the tropical restaurant that was for a few years at the empty lot on Canal and Varick (the entrance was on Grand and was most recently set up on Governors, is taking a space at Pier 17 and opens on March 6. I am pretty sure it is the former Momofuku space — which is the smaller of the spaces over there but the most charming.
MATCHING RIDE
Love the matching Vespa Marc Murphy has parked outside Landmarc, or rather now Marc179. Perfect match.
MORE FROM GILLIE AND MARC
If you enjoy the life-size animal creations of Gillie and Marc, who have the installations in the alley between 3 and 4 World Trade Center, there’s a new one at Fosun Plaza, at 28 Liberty. The Dubuffet is looking great too.
BEE HOUSES AT THE WTC
The World Trade Center has installed four native bee homes in Liberty Park in partnership with The Bee Conservancy, a national organization that educates about the preservation of bees. The cool little condos were made by Brooklyn Woods, which offers free training to unemployed and low-income New Yorkers in woodworking and fabrication, and contains up to 105 native bees per house for leaf cutter, small carpenter, and mason bees.

Hi there! Gitano is taking over the largest space that was Koko’s at Pearl Alley that overlooks the Brooklyn Bridge.
Ah thanks!
I think a lot of people (including me) just thought the Kokos space was The Fulton. Oops…
