March 31, 2025 Restaurant/Bar News
The lighting design firm In Common With opened a showroom called Quarters last September and it has a very cool speakeasy-type gathering spot/wine bar embedded in it — open to the public. They didn’t have a table when we walked in this week (you can reserve, or you can just go to Walker’s, as we did), I thought it was worth sharing these sooner rather than later. I will circle back with menus soon.
The Bar at Quarters is billed as “an intimate neighborhood bar specializing in wine and seasonal small plates, in a thoughtfully curated space designed to captivate the senses.” It is certainly intimate and the design is fabulous. A study in ochre, the bar has no bar in actual fact, but about 20 seats in the back room and another 16 or so at the long table in what I would call the dining room (the entire showroom is designed to look like an apartment).
It’s worth stopping by to see the space — formerly a yoga studio? — on the second floor of 383 Broadway. The company’s Flora chandelier is in vestibule of the building, before you ascend the narrow staircase — and from upstairs you get a great city view through the transom window. The Paloma pendant is hanging in the “bedroom.”
In Common With was founded in Brooklyn in 2018 by Felicia Hung and Nick Ozemba, longtime friends who aim to create well-designed items that combine meticulous, made-to-order craftsmanship with scalable manufacturing. Read more in The Times Style feature from 2022.

Really enjoyed the ambiance and service when I visited Quarters last week. However, the wine/cocktail list needs a bit of work. Short list of niche wines that won’t attract the masses.
