Seen & Heard: NYC Fire Museum vs. Disney

NYC FIRE MUSEUM CLOSED FOR SAFETY CONCERNS
The New York City Fire Museum in Soho filed a summons in State Supreme Court Friday claiming that when Disney built its new headquarters across the street on Spring and Varick, they did structural damage to the museum. The museum has been closed since May 2024. Their website says the building is “closed until further notice following an emergency evacuation due to crane operations on Spring Street, which raised concerns about the building’s structural integrity.” But Crain’s has a fuller story. The museum is seeking donations. “While our top priority is the safety of our visitors and staff, this unexpected closure places an additional strain on our resources.” Donate here.
