SPORTS GEAR COLLECTION ON APRIL 27
Tribecans Max and Lila Schafer are running a second annual Used Sporting Goods Drive on Sunday, April 27, from 10a to 2p at Duane Park in conjunction with Friends of Duane Park’s Shred Day. Drop off gently used equipment for any and all sports; the kids will donate it to the Hudson Guild in Chelsea.

JAMES BEARD NARROWS THE NOMINEES
The James Beard Awards will be announced in June, but in the meantime, they have narrowed down the nominees and Tribeca plays a part:
For Outstanding Restaurateur: Lee Hanson and Riad Nasr of Frenchette
For Outstanding Chef: Jungsik Yim of Jungsik
For Best Chef for New York State: Eiji Ichimura of Sushi Ichimura (which will close in August)

TRIBECA FILM FEST OPENS WITH BILLY JOEL
The 2025 Tribeca Festival will open with “Billy Joel: And So It Goes,” an HBO original two-part documentary. The festival runs this year from June 4 to 15 with lineups across film, music, TV, audio storytelling, talks, games, and immersive programming. “Paying tribute to the legendary performer who captured the essence of a ‘New York State of Mind’ is a perfect way to kick off this year’s celebration of creativity and inspiration.” Jane Rosenthal said.

TRINITY CHURCH RESUMES CONCERTS AT 1
Trinity Church’s Concerts at One have returned, with the series taking place Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 1p at St. Paul’s Chapel. This is a century-old tradition of offering free midday music. Mondays is jazz; Tuesdays is pipes; Wednesdays is Bach. See all the evets here on Eventbrite. Some upcoming shows:
