OPEN STUDIO TOURS ON BROADWAY
There will be an Open Artist Studio and Gallery Tour at 368 and 373 Broadway — the working home of dozens of artists called Tribeca Spaces — on Saturday, May 10, from noon to 6p. The event is free and open to the public. More info here.
FDNY FOUNDATION TO HOST IN TRIBECA
The FDNY Foundation, the official non-profit arm of the New York City Fire Department, will host its annual fundraiser, FDNY Night, this year at Engine 7, Ladder 1 on Duane on Thursday, May 15, 5:30 to 7:30. Tickets are $150 and can be purchased here. The event will include tours of the firehouse, activities around fire safety and CPR, entertainment and discussions from FDNY leadership. The foundation is also seeking sponsorships from local businesses. Contact (718) 999-0779 or info@fdnyfoundation.org for more information on that.
Some fun details: Built 1905, the firehouse was designed by architects Trowbridge & Livingston in the Beaux-Arts style. Engine 7, Ladder 1 are two of the city’s oldest fire companies. Ladder 1 is the only company to retain the same number through the transition from a volunteer to a paid professional department.
SATELLITE COLLECTIVE AT MRIYA GALLERY
Satellite Collective’s Tribeca Art Show will feature new works by Lora Robertson (her work in the photo above) and Kevin Draper opening Friday, May 9, with a reception at 6p and a panel discussion at 7p. The exhibition will showcase a compelling mix of prints, photography, and sculpture. The discussion is titled “Violence, Beauty, and Resistance vs. Societal Decay” and will be moderated by Christa Terry, senior arts and culture editor at The Observer.

Have you heard any update to when Meadowlane is opening? Feel like it has been under construction for so long
See “Brokeback Contessa” on TikTok. The owner, Sammy Nussdorf, has no shame and even pokes fun at the fact he hasn’t officially announced a date yet. He’s a self-proclaimed perfectionist which I’m sure has contributed to the wait. That being said, the long anticipation I think has made the neighborhood even more hungry for it’s unannounced opening.
