Seen & Heard: Register for Downtown Soccer League

REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR DSL
Registration for the 2025 Downtown Soccer League fall season is now open and up till May 31. The season will run from September 6 to November 23. The fee is $165 and financial assistance is available. This is the neighborhood’s recreational league, founded 32 years ago, with the goal of building community through an inclusive program open to players of all skill level. The league is volunteer run. Families and businesses can also sponsor a team here.

FIELDS WILL GET REPLACED NEXT WINTER
An update on this post: the turf surface at the Battery Park City fields will now be replaced next winter (2025-2026) instead of this winter (2024-2025). So what’s there now will stay until it’s replaced. The green padding mounted along the perimeter fencing of the fields, some of which was torn/ripped, was replaced with new padding this winter.

VANISHA GOULD AT THE IRISH HUNGER MEMORIAL
Jazz vocalist Vanish Gould will play on Thursday, May 8, 6:30p, at the Irish Hunger Memorial. Gould was born and raised in Southern California and moved to New York in 2015 and built a name for herself as a composer, bandleader and jazz vocalist. Her most recent album “She’s Not Shiny, She’s Not Smooth” celebrates imperfection and uplifts authenticity. More info.
