THE LIBERTY, WRITTEN IN STONE
The Downtown Alliance permanently commemorated the ticker tape parade honoring the New York Liberty’s 2024 WNBA championship by unveiling a granite plaque in front of 250 Broadway (Park Place and Murray) last week. From left to right is Keia Clarke, CEO of the Liberty, Jonathan Kolb, general manager, Jessica Lappin, president of the Downtown Alliance, and of course Ellie the Elephant. Last year’s parade for the Liberty was the first for a New York City sports championship since the Giants were honored in 2012. And it was the first time a women’s sports team from New York has been given a parade. It was the 209th ticker tape parade in New York history.
