Now we know why the Western Union — 60 Hudson — building is such a looker: workers were hand polishing the brass entrance earlier this week.

 

THE HAPPENING IS THIS WEEKEND
Church Street School of Music & Art will host its annual free block party, The Happening!, on June 8 from noon to 4p in front of the school on White Street. The Happening will include live musical performances from CSSMA’s talented Band Factory and group instrumental students, partner presentations, large scale communal and individual art projects, a student art show, a teen Maker Market, a raffle, food, drinks, games, and much more! Local sponsors include Grandaisy Bakery, Leroy’s Place, Square Diner, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods.

REP. GOLDMAN VIRTUAL TOWN HALL TONIGHT
US Rep. Dan Goldman will host a virtual town hall on Wednesday, June 4, at 7p to discuss recent developments in Washington regarding the congressional budget and tax bill. Participants can ask questions about the issues regarding the Trump Administration and Congress. Register here.

KABUKI CONCERTMASTER AT IPPODO GALLERY
Ippodo Gallery will host kabuki concertmaster Denzaemon Tanaka XIII for a free performance on June 14, 1 to 2p, at the gallery at 35 N. Moore. The thirteenth to bear the prestigious Denzaemon name, he is the son of two kabuki music masters and began training at the age of 2. He was named the youngest-ever concertmaster at 16 and would become co-music director of Tokyo’s famed Kabukiza Theatre. Guests will have a the opportunity to meet the artist.
