Printemps Wine Shop is open in Fidi

Printemps, the fancy French department store that just opened in One Wall (stay tuned for more on the restaurant, Maison Passerelle) has opened a wine shop with a dedicated entrance on Broadway. And like the store and the restaurants, this one is also designed by Parisian Laura Gonzalez, who opened a showroom on Lispenard last year.

More than half of the wines (at this point, 450) and 85 percent of the spirits (around 170) are sourced from France, including ones from regions such as Languedoc, Roussillon and Savoie, and ones in more rare styles such as Vin Jaune and Rancio Sec. New York State is the major focus after France, with a large offering of wines and spirits from the Hudson Valley, Long Island and the Finger Lakes.

Most of the producers are small to medium-sized, often multi-generational family operations. The shop will also carry the wines served at the store’s restaurants.

The spirits will include cognac, armagnac, calvados, French liquers, mistelles (fortified wine), eau de vies (fruit brandy), and one of the
largest retail selections of French whisky in the city.
