FIRE DEPARTMENT HOISTS THE FLAG
The Fire Department of the City of New York Commissioner held its annual Medal Day Ceremony yesterday at City Hall Plaza and had some helo from a couple rigs to hoist this flag — the shot was caught by H. At the ceremony, medals were presented to FDNY firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, fire marshals and officers for their lifesaving work at rescues in 2024. Notable medals this year went to Firefighter Michael Kotzo for his participation in two roof rope rescues during a Harlem fire, and EMT Mitchell Tarnapolsky and EMT Amber Black for their water rescue of two children in Coney Island.
MARTE TO HOST TOWN HALL ON RETIREE HEALTHCARE
Councilman Christopher Marte will host a town hall meeting on retiree healthcare today, Thursday, June 5, at 6p at the Manny Cantor Center, 197 East Broadway. The panel of labor and healthcare experts will discuss the ongoing fight to protect healthcare benefits for New York City’s 250,000 municipal retirees. The meeting will also provide updates on legislation (Intro 1096) to protect retiree healthcare rights.

Seasonal Whispers, which has been in Tribeca for decades (I think since 1990), is now for rent according to a sign hung in the window by business owner Ether Lixenberg. Her daughter Yafit Goldfarb also owns Goldish, the jewelry store on Murray between West Broadway and Greenwich.

South Street Seaport Museum is hosting a free “Music and Maritime” event on June 13, from 5 to 7p.
