BaBoo, the charming home design store on Church and Franklin opened in 2023 by San Fran transplant Galit Chay, will close at the end of the month. This is a loss. The place was so fun and an excellent addition to the Tribeca Design District.
The store will have a second act in the city: Galit is creating a model house for BaBoo on the river in Red Hook, which will be open to the public by appointment — “a living expression of the collection,” Galit said.
“There are a lot of mixed feelings about this change,” she said. (She first opened in San Francisco in 2013.) “Sadness, indeed. The space held so much: beauty, stories, inspiration, and most importantly, the joy of meeting people. But we’ll continue in other ways.”
The store has a special closing sale going on now. See the listing here. And more when they open their doors in Red Hook.
