Battery Park City’s River & Blues concerts in Rockefeller Park start this week, Thursday, July 10, at 8p, with Maggie Rose. July 17 is Amythyst Kiah; July 24 is the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance; July 31 is Lady Blackbird. More info here.

RULES FOR BETTER DAYS AT WORK
Tribecan Bree Groff, an expert on workplace culture, has written her first book titled “Today Was Fun: A Book About Work (Seriously).” The book contains seven rules for better days at work and in life. More soon when she and I can chat, but in the meantime, you can pre-order the book here and/or join her book launch party on July 15, 7 to 9p, at the Powerhouse Arena Bookstore in Dumbo (she would love to see some neighborhood faces there). VORNADO WATCH
The Community First Development Coalition has started a newsletter titled Vornado Watch, where they explore the developer’s role in specific projects and unpack its political ties. This latest essay: Vornado’s Deep Ties with Trump. The coalition was started to fight the 900-foot tower planned for Independence Plaza; Vornado is one of the owners of the site.

CELEBRATING 200 YEARS OF THE ERIE CANAL
The Lilac, the lightship docked at Pier 25, will host a show titled “Celebrating 200 Years of the Erie Canal” with an opening event on Saturday, July 12, from 2 to 6p. Folks from the New York State Museum will discuss the canal’s construction and its impact on New York State.
