Meadow Lane, the grab-and-go sandwich shop, grocer and florist that has been under construction in the former Harrison space since May 2024, is looking ready to go. However… now has its shelves nearly stocked and flowers on display. owner Sammy Nussdorf sent a note: “We had our photoshoot yesterday but we are still just waiting for our final ConEd inspection so we can get gas authorization.” I will pop by later, but I think we can assume it is opening if not today then tomorrow. (The last note on Instagram, from two weeks ago, showed the menu and a note that they are hiring.)
Nussdorf, a native New Yorker who worked in venture capital until the pandemic, changed course when things slowed down and he got “obsessed” with floral design. He decided to pursue his passion and took work with a florist in LA, where he honed his own style.
Fast forward to a year ago when he decided to combine all his passions — flowers, food and New York City — under one roof. He said Meadow Lane will be a “safe space in the chaos of the city” open to all — you don’t even have to buy anything.
@brokebackcontessa A little bit about me…and a Meadow Lane update!
The store will stock prepared foods, snacks, staple items, frozen foods, etc — all in shelves and cabinets custom built in Italy (!). The floral studio will have arrangements, custom orders and weekly floral house accounts. They will use the on-site kitchen downstairs, and the website says they have a led by our Michelin-starred chef and culinary director.
“Our partnerships with local, sustainable farms will bring a variety of fresh farm produce under one roof, saving our shoppers a trip to the farmers market and connecting more small farms with the NYC customer,” the website says. “Our beverage program consists of a coffee, tea, and matcha bar, organic smoothies made to order, a menu of organic juices, and seasonal rotations of bone broth in the winter and frozen yogurt in the summer.”
He posted on TikTok last night that they were doing a photo shoot yesterday and today. Seems like they can’t get ConEd to turn on the gas, so they keep delaying the opening.
Anyone know what the latest is here?
Last I heard from the owner, they passed their final Con Ed inspection in late August.
