Seen & Heard: Family day at PAC NYC

FAMILY DAY AT PAC NYC
The Perelman Performing Arts Center will host its first free Family Day on Saturday, July 12, from 10a to 4p with events for all ages. RSVP is required. There will be indoor and outdoor workshops, performances, interactive creation stations, dance battles, live music, and more.

FINN SQUARE FROM THE BIRDS
M. sent this cool shot of the newly renovated Finn Square from above at New York Law School. Looks so Tribeca — if the ever-present Fresh Direct truck wasn’t there, I would think it was a rendering.

HUDSON SQUARE BID CHIPS IN FOR HOUSEMAN DINING SHED
The Hudson Square Business Improvement District is covering 50 percent of the cost for Houseman, Ned Baldwin’s restaurant on Greenwich and Canal, to install a new outdoor dining structure. The shed will feature colors and branding aligned with the BID’s streetscape theme, including both Hudson Square and Houseman logos. From the BID: “Under the city’s updated Dining Out NYC program, the cost of installing a compliant roadway structure can exceed $30,000 — and that’s before factoring in seasonal teardown, winter storage and reinstallation costs. The application process has also drawn criticism from restaurant owners who say it’s complex and time consuming. As a result, only a small percentage of restaurants citywide have applied for permits so far.”

MATH FESTIVAL AT FOSUN PLAZA
The National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath) and Fosun will host the ninth annual New York City Math Festival at the plaza at 28 Liberty on Saturday, July 12, from 10a to 4p. The free, family-friendly festival has exhibits, hands-on activities, mathematical games, and large scale group constructions. There’s also math-themed juggling demonstrations by educator and performer John Chase and hands-on robotics activities with Robofun, including LEGO builds and programmable robots.
