TEAKWOOD THAI CHOPHOUSE OPENS TOMORROW
Teakwood, the Thai restaurant coming to the former Viet Cafe space on Greenwich, will open tomorrow. I’ve asked for a sneak peek but no go — so will try to swing through tomorrow or Wednesday. (Thanks to A. & A. for the shots.)
COMPETING FOR A RANGER RICK COMPETITION!
A 7-year-old Fidi resident, Zakary Brink Saeed, is competing in a national competition through Ranger Rick magazine to raise funds for wildlife preservation and he is seeking votes from neighbors for his campaign. Zak and his family got involved in the competition through his love for his late uncle, a wildlife educator and herpetologist. If he wins (he is already among 120 semi-finalists, whittled down from 100,000 competitors), he will be able to donate the $20,000 prize money to Camaquiri Conservation Initiative, a biological field station in Costa Rica, to honor his uncle. Vote here!
FRIEDMAN’S HAS TAKEN THE CALIZA SPACE!
More soon on this but J. figured out (and the restaurant confirmed) that Friedman’s is taking the Caliza space on the corner of N. Moore and Greenwich. J. said they were collecting signatures with the offer of a free bagel. Excellent campaigning.
Teakwood is great! I went the day it opened; it was delicious and surprisingly crowded.
