Both C. and N. witnessed NYPD and FDNY marine units and officers recovering a body from the Hudson River last night, and for now we are assuming this is the body of the woman who jumped in on Tuesday morning from the bulkhead at the end of Canal Street, near Pier 34 that leads out to the Holland Tunnel air shaft.
N. said the highway was closed to the public as first responders recovered the woman’s body.
Police responded to a 911 call at 7:51 on Wednesday night, and upon arrival, officers observed an unidentified unconscious adult woman floating in the water. NYPD Harbor units responded and removed the woman from the water. EMS responded to the scene and pronounced her deceased on scene. The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
This was the second recovery in the past week; a man who jumped into the river on July 10 was recovered on July 13.
Sad for all involved . If your feeling down reach out to some one call 311 to get help . Depression is terrible thing .
