Well, that’s my term — and now I am questioning myself! And wondering what else folks call it? We are discussing the passageway between Murray and Vesey that is west of West Street and east of North End Avenue, going from Shake Shack to Pick-A-Bagel. It is between Goldman’s headquarters at 200 West and the building the firm owns on the other side of said passageway, containing the hotel, movie theater and restaurants.
In answering G.’s question, I looked it up on Google Maps and turns out it has a real name: North End Way. So there’s that.
Then I wondered if I had the term “breezeway” correct and it seems I have: Wikipedia goes with “a simple roof connecting two structures (such as a house and a garage); sometimes, it can be much more like a tunnel with windows on either side. It may also refer to a hallway…that lacks heating and cooling but allows sheltered passage.”
Goldman’s headquarters there opened in 2010; by 2012, the firm had cleared out the old tenants in the building just to its west, added the roof to the passageway and upgraded the offerings on all four sides. Gone were the Embassy Suites, Applebee’s, Pizza Bolla and Lili’s. In was the Conrad, Shake Shack, Harry’s Italian and Wei West. (DSW Shoes also did not renew its lease at the time.)
We call it Goldman Alley.
Still missing Lili’s.
I have not seen an update here since November 2024 about Seppe Pizza Bar possibly taking over the former Harry’s space.

They do not reply to my requests for info; I just follow on Instagram.
local office-worker here – we also refer to it as the Goldman Breezeway! As of last week, Seppe Pizza Bar has signage up and the re-designed interior looks almost completed.
Goldman Alley.
Seppe’s signage is in place and it’s outdoor furniture arrived this week and is stacked up in its Alley/Breezeway space. Don’t know if that means anything.
Architecture terminology aside, it’s always been known as Goldman Alley
Can confirm Seppe signage is up and replaced Harry’s
Tables and chairs locked up out front – I’m guessing less than a month out from opening.
Literal Breezeway. The wind is insane in the winter. Could use a blast of icy air right now, honestly. Come winter I’m sure I’ll be grumpy about it lol!
