Nosy Neighbor: What’s happening on Harrison and Greenwich?

C. asked: “What is happening with the construction on the corners of Harrison and Greenwich? There are two big construction fences on the east and west side.”

The Department of Design and Construction is creating *Complex* Pedestrian Ramps at 31 corner locations in Community Boards 1 and 2 that will upgrade the corners to ADA standards; plus reconstruct the curb and sidewalks; relocate water mains and hydrants; adjust catch basins, sewer manholes and chute connections; and add traffic lighting upgrades.

The Complex Ped Ramp projects, as opposed to the Simple Ped Ramp projects, require much more coordination because of existing catch basins, utilities and other underground interferences. The project will address 31 corners and will cost $21 million overall. Completion is expected in 2027.
