CITY OF FOREST DAY AT CITY HALL PARK
City Hall Park Conservancy will host the City of Forest day on Oct. 4 from 10a to 2p with a volunteer gardening and raking, tulip planting, a children’s art project and a photography display. At 11a, Downtown resident and naturalist Gail Karlsson will lead a tree walk through the park, pointing out the species and background of certain trees and “trying to encourage more people in to get acquainted with them as neighbors,” Gail said. She will also be giving out copies of her book “Meeting Trees in City Hall Park” to participants.

Carrot Express, the fast-casual founded in Miami in 1993, has opened at Brookfield Place. This is its fourth NYC location and its 29th across the country. They serve vegan, gluten-free and vegetarian options. Owner Mario Laufer was diagnosed with high-blood pressure as a young adult and changed his diet, becoming a pescatarian and creating healthy recipes at home. After many failed businesses in different industries, he opened the first Carrot Express inside a gas station in South Beach.
