Tent & Trails building on Park Place has sold

I saw it in Crain’s and confirmed in the city finance records: 21 Park Place, which housed Tent & Trails from 1972 until 2018, has sold for $8 million. Troy Realty Capital is one of the partners in the deal; the other, according to Crain’s, is OTL Enterprises, which developed the Blue Condominium — the blue-glass tower near Essex Crossing on the LES.

Troy Realty Capital said it is still in the planning stages but the plan would be to build condos. And construction will most likely start in the middle of next year.

The owners of Tent & Trails sold the building in July 2018 for $9 million, not long after the family business closed. And then in December 2018, 21 Park Place pancaked. “All that was left was the facade and the staircase, with the fire extinguishers still attached to the wall,” said Jamie Lipman, the owner of Tent & Trails, when I bumped into her on Long Island a couple of years ago. (More on the business here, if you want a trip down memory lane.)

The owner of 21 Park Place claimed in a lawsuit that the construction of 19 Park Place caused the collapse. The Iris, at #19, was completed in June 2018.
