The Carnegie Diner & Café, along with Delos Greek Restaurant, will share the 8400 square feet space at 200 Chambers along West Street, stretching to Warren. (NB: no connection to the Carnegie Deli that operated for 88 years in Midtown.)
Slated to open in summer 2026, the diner will serve its extensive selection of breakfast, lunch and dinner favorites. The Greek restaurant, which recently had its first opening in the Diamond District next to Carnegie Diner & Cafe, will offer Greek cuisine at an affordable price point.
Carnegie Hospitality has Central Park and Times Square locations and is in the process of opening additional restaurants across Manhattan and Brooklyn in the coming year. The group also operates diner locations in Secaucus and Vienna, VA. The chef and owner is Stathis Antonakopoulos.
(Some details I had forgotten about 200 Chambers: developed by Jack Resnick & Sons, it opened in 2007 and has 258 condo units. Resnick also owns and the 10,000-square-foot building that houses the PS 234 annex and Downtown Community Center.)
Community Board 1 approved a liquor license for that space in February 2024 for Baires Grill NY Tribeca LLC — an outpost of the Argentinian steakhouse chain. I am guessing Carnegie can absorb that license? It did come with stipulations: 7a to midnight Monday to Thursday; 7a to 1a Friday and Saturday; 7a to 10p Sunday; an option for live violin or guitar; an option for a DJ from 5 to 8p; no more than 12 buyouts a year; no open windows.
That resolution from the board said the restaurant had a capacity of 225 with outdoor seating for 14.
