Meadow Lane, the gourmet prepared food market and florist that has been under construction in the former Harrison space since May 2024, will open Friday at 355 Greenwich. The hours will be 11a to 9p. More TK when I can get in there.
The owner is Sammy Nussdorf, a native New Yorker who worked in venture capital until the pandemic, changed course when things slowed down and he got “obsessed” with floral design. He decided to pursue his passion and took work with a florist in LA, where he honed his own style.
Fast forward to a couple of years ago when he decided to combine all his passions — flowers, food and New York City — under one roof. He said Meadow Lane will be a “safe space in the chaos of the city” open to all — you don’t even have to buy anything.
The store will stock prepared foods, snacks, staple items, frozen foods, etc — all in shelves and cabinets custom built in Italy (!). The floral studio will have arrangements, custom orders and weekly floral house accounts. There is a 2000-square-foot kitchen downstairs.
“Our partnerships with local, sustainable farms will bring a variety of fresh farm produce under one roof, saving our shoppers a trip to the farmers market and connecting more small farms with the NYC customer,” the website says. “Our beverage program consists of a coffee, tea, and matcha bar, organic smoothies made to order, a menu of organic juices, and seasonal rotations of bone broth in the winter and frozen yogurt in the summer.”
FYI JUMBO-sized rats jumping from the Meadow Lane trash piles and overflowing/unclosed trash containers on Harrison St to the underside of the Terrior outside seating platforms. No pedestrian escape because of the city chain link fence enclosing construction area.
